As an integrative CBT and EMDR psychotherapist, when we work together, I will draw on a range of approaches to help you achieve your goals.
No two clients are the same, and no two issues are the same so by using an integrative approach, I can ensure that the therapeutic pathway we follow is tailored to your specific experiences, needs and goals. In our work together, I can draw upon a range of approaches to help you better understand yourself and the difficulties you are facing.
When we decide to work together, in our first session, which will take place on my secure psychology platform, I will find out more about you, your background and the difficulties you are facing. This will enable us to understand the origin, current triggers and what keeps it going. We can set some therapeutic goals together and carry out the relevant outcome measures (questionnaires) for you. This is especially helpful to establish if you have a likelihood of having PTSD as this will shape which tools and techniques we will use. From here we can devise a therapeutic treatment plan for you that we can follow in our sessions together. This process will take about 50 mins, after which, we can set a time for when we will next meet.
“Counselling is always something I have been interested in doing, to help me to work through some of my difficult childhood experiences but I have always been too scared to do it. I got in touch with Rebecca when I was feeling close to burn out at work and couldn't control my anxiety, which was affecting all aspects of my life. Rebecca has taken me on such a rewarding journey and she has helped me to give myself the same compassion I give others. Rebecca has really helped me to manage, make sense of, and reduce my anxiety. I now have a much greater self-awareness, which has improved my presence with my children, my relationships and my work-life balance. Rebecca is thoughtful, engaging, passionate and kind and I would whole-heartedly recommend her to anyone considering counselling.”

Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy uses a collaborative approach to therapy, in which we work together to break the pattern of negative thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
It works on the premise that how you feel, what you do, and your thought patterns are all connected and by changing one of these, we can alter all the others. These may be patterns that were established a long time ago, so we will work together to explore any feelings you may have not processed from past experiences, bringing them to the fore and exploring them to help you understand your current struggles.
Using CBT, we can develop ways to change your thoughts, feelings and behaviours so you can manage them better.
EMDR or Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing aims to reprocess on a physiological, emotional and cognitive level, the experiences that are causing problems, and integrate positive, affirming experiences necessary for full mental and emotional health.
In EMDR you do not have to discuss any of your disturbing memories in detail, which some clients may prefer.
Although you may feel relief early on in the process it is important to complete all eight phases of treatment as it is a a complete course of treatment.
